The railway has played a great role in Ashford’s development – not just in the 19th-century but also more recently with the arrival (and departure) of Eurostar. Let’s hope that more intercontinental high speed trains will be stopping at Ashford in the near future – and their models can be added to the new model railway centre in Bethersden.

This object, far too large to be ‘hidden’, is nevertheless easy to overlook because, having spent all of its working life in Ashford, it’s now in Durham. Would be very interested to hear from anyone who worked on it/with it.
